Cheam and Nonsuch Park Race

By | Tuesday, 2 June 2026

The third instalment of the London Park Race series was hosted by Mole Valley in Cheam Park and Nonsuch Park. The hot weather broke on the day into torrential rain and hailstorms whilst putting out the controls. Undeterred some got a dry run and some a little bit of rain, fortunately no further downpours. The courses took orienteers round the former deer park of Henry VIII’s Nonsuch Palace, with long grass and beautiful beeches and oaks to navigate, and lots of positive feedback received.

It was the first event I’ve planned, so my thanks to Tim Scarbrough for his advice and acting as Controller, to Mike Bolton for guiding me through Racesignup, and Mike Elliot for his help with kit and running registration and download. Thanks to all those who helped on the day and to the Ye Olde Red Lion pub for hosting us, and Epsom and Ewell Borough Council and Sutton Council for land access.
