If you want to try orienteering at a place and time that suits you, we have some options for you.
Permanent courses
We have several permanent orienteering courses in parks and country parks in Surrey and South London, where you’ll find permanent wooden orienteering posts around the site. You can orienteer the course at any time during the site’s opening hours. This is a great option for trying orienteering, doing a training run, exploring a place in a new way, or for groups like schools, Scouts, Guides and so on. You can walk, jog or run.
Details of where our permanent courses can be found are here, together with how to get hold of a map.
App-based courses
A legacy of the covid period, we have some orienteering courses that are available on an app called MapRun. There are no physical markers on the ground, but when you reach the right location the app pings or buzzes and records that you have been there. This creates a leaderboard within the app. We recommend you print the map for the course to make it easier to navigate, but you can also view the map within the app on your phone.
Details of our app-based courses can be found here.
