EPSOM STREET O – 16th September 2025

The MV 25/26 evening Street O season has begun!

We had a fantastic turn out for the first of 8 Street O events being run entirely on MapRun. Thank you all for attending and for your positive comments. We had runners who were returning to the sport after a break, some who had spent their childhood in Epsom and even visitors from Russia. It seemed everyone enjoyed the route choice decisions and looking at the tracks on MapRun we can see that every control was visited, but no-one visited every control. Doing away with the ‘pen and paper’ option for recording a visit to a control site this season meant we were able to use a wider variety of sites, including the market place statue which some found difficult. A reminder that control descriptions (on the back of the map) can help in navigating to the correct feature.

Only one runner was surprised by a beep as she ran past the ‘ghost control’ no. 14. We apologise that this was inadvertently left on the MapRun file after being removed from the map. Unfortunately those extra 10 points don’t count!

Congratulations to Dan Sullivan and Nora Kettleborough for coming in as first male and first female. Full results below. Listening to comments in the pub afterwards, the competition is already getting serious! Thank you to Justin Farhall for his guidance in the planning stages, printing the maps and helping on the night. Also thank you to The Barley Mow Pub for hosting us – some of you even enjoyed the garden.

*Race organisers will score points equal to their best result of the series, at the end of the series Where teams share one map each person has received equal points. The next person has received 1 point less rather than 2.

For all events in this series, competitors that tie with equal final points are only separated if time penalties are incurred. They are not separated if one competitor is faster than the other unless both sustain time penalties. If 2 or more people tie with time penalties, the person/s with more time penalties will be demoted. If the time penalties are equal they will finish equal.
