Event Centre
The assembly, start and finish will be close together within Buchan Country Park.
Assembly location is here on What3Words.
Toilets and a café are available near to the assembly area.

Parking
We have been asked NOT to use the parking at Buchan Country Park but leave that to local users. There are various options available local to the Park – please see this document on GoogleDocs. Allow 10-15 minutes to walk to Assembly and/or the Start

Terrain
Buchan Country Park comprises a wooded area separated by two lakes with some
challenging and open woodland together with some gradients. It is bounded by private land, a golf course and the A264.

Start
In 15 minute blocks between 10:00 and 11:30. Courses close at 14:00.  Please try to keep to your start slot as some courses are likely to be very busy. Loose control descriptions will be available in the start lane and are also on the front of the map. All courses will use IOF symbols. Yellow and Orange will also have text descriptions. If you are new to orienteering or you are unsure about the start routine, please ask one of the start team and they will be pleased to help you.

SportIdent (SI) Punching will be used with SIAC enabled for all the controls in the “terrain”. The start and finish controls WILL NOT be SIAC enabled: all competitors will need to “dib” at both the start and finish. Should a control fail then use the attached pin punch on the map and explain at Download. If a SIAC “dibber” battery fails then “dib” at all controls.   Those entering Brown / Blue may need to check that their SI Unit can hold 28 or 32 controls.  Any device SI v9 or greater should be OK.  If in doubt please ask at the Event Centre.

Apres O Refreshments
We are offering a free cup of mulled wine or warm fruit juice along with a mince pie to all finishers, at Assembly. Beyond this your options are: the cafe in the park near download and local eateries in Crawley.  No water will be provided at the finish.

Apres-O Competition : All competitors can have a go at our festive activity / competition with a prize for the winner.             [tip : revise your IOF symbols !]

Coaching / Introductions to Orienteering
We particularly welcome newcomers to our Festive Event and the club will have our Coach on hand to help them through completing their first orienteering course.   There is a much reduced Entry fee for newcomers / beginners entering the White, Yellow or Orange courses.  If in Doubt select White and ask for advice at the Event Center or from our Coach.
