SUMMARY:MV GLOSS at Epsom Downs Sunday 28th June
DESCRIPTION:Mole Valley Orienteering Club welcomes you to Epsom & Walton Downs\, home to the world famous Derby horserace. The area consists of wide-open grass areas with magnificent views over the racecourse and London. There are also pockets of woodland with intricate path networks which have been mapped in great detail. Full leg cover is strongly recommended. \n24 June – FINAL DETAILS ARE AVAILABLE HERE: FINAL DETAILS \n*Entry on the day is available – please pay by card or exact cash*\nOn offer is the GLOSS (Light Green) course at 3.9km with optional extension (6.3km total)\, and a Yellow course at 1.7km suitable for juniors/beginners. \n  \nEntries: Now open on Racesignup. Price rise at midnight Sunday 21st June. Online entries close at 6pm on 27th June.  Limited entry on the day\, subject to map availability and payment by card or exact cash only. \nHelpers get a free entry (please contact the organiser for offer of help and discount code) \nEntry Fees: Seniors – £8 (£10 late/on the day)  Juniors – £3 (£4 late/on the day)  Pairs/groups using 1 map on yellow course £4 (£5 on the day) \n£2 supplement for non-British Orienteering members.   Dibber hire £1. \n \nPublic Transport: Tattenham Corner is the nearest railway station (Southern Railway) and is less than 500 meters away. Epsom Station (South Western Railway and Southern Railway)\, is a 3.5km walk away. The nearest bus stop is 500m away and is served by the 460 & 480 buses from Epsom town centre. \nParking: Free parking is at the public 7 Furlong car park within the racecourse\, which is accessed by the roundabout on the junction of Old London Road and Tattenham Corner Road what3words address ///arrow.hint.broken. \nStarts: open start from 10:00 to 12:00. Courses close at 13:30 \nMap: Scale 1:10\,000\, Contour interval 5m. \nAssembly:  Start\, finish\, and download/enquiries are all a short walk from the 7 Furlong car park. \nFacilities: There are no public toilets anywhere on Epsom Downs. The nearest toilets are at Tattenham Corner train station or the Tattenham Corner pub by the free Tea Hut car park. Both are approximately 500m from the 7 Furlong car park. \nThere is a mobile drinks van in the 7f car park serving drinks and sweet treats. The tea hut serves hot & cold food and drinks\, ice creams etc. and is very reasonably priced. GLOSS 2026 website \nThere are two courses: the GLOSS course which is about 3½ to 4½ km (with optional extension to around 6 km) and is of moderate navigational difficulty\, and a ‘Yellow’ course which is about 2km with easier navigation. Navigate between control points – you decide the best route to complete the course in the quickest time. Beginners welcome! \nThe best six handicapped times for each club at each event score points\, which are totalled at the end of the season. GLOSS uses a handicap system in determining individual performance\, based on how well you perform against the average of your British Orienteering Ranking Scheme scores.
